A trip down the river
Thanks to new designs in kayaks making them safer and less tippy, many more can now embrace a sport they used to fear.
A low center of gravity and a wider beam provide far more stability, and details such as larger inner and outer cockpits, super-comfy seats, molded-in grab handles, cup holders and a hydrodynamic profile optimized to make new kayaks paddle straight and fast effortlessly, allows you to relax and enjoy all the flora and fauna without fear.

The Trading Post
The Trading Post Canoe, Kayak & Campground in Mongo, Ind., offers a modern fleet of over 200 canoes and kayaks and six river trip options, all of which travel through the 13,000 acres of the Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area, the largest and most scenic state-owned property in Indiana.
Whether you prefer a short excursion or an all-day outing, the historic Pigeon River offers a unique and exciting adventure.
The Refuge Bridge trip is excellent for large groups. You are transported up-river to the launch site and then canoe or kayak down the river back to the Trading Post. This is an excellent all-day trip (13 miles, approximately 4.5 hours).
For a shorter excursion, the Spero Bridge trip gets you back at the Trading Post quicker (10 miles, approximately 3.5 hours).
The Wood Bridge trip is the shortest upper river trip, which offers four miles and approximately 1.5 hours of water travel.
Downriver, you have your choice of the Nasby Dam trip (four miles), which leaves from the Trading Post and floats you downstream to Nasby Dam in approximately 1 1/2 hours, depending on the current.
The Nasby Dam is one of the only "V" dams left in the United States and a wonder to experience in person.
You can be picked up here and shuttled back to the Trading Post or you can continue on three miles more by carrying your watercraft around the dam and continuing to Curtis Creek where you will experience nature in action with osprey nesting and other fowl flying in clear view.
From Curtis Creek you can be shuttled back or continue on three miles more and float your way to Ontario Dam, which is a natural dam and a beautiful sight to behold.
The Trading Post also offers the State Road 327 trip, which is 16 miles long.
Established in 1971 and family-owned and operated, John and Jesslyn Senecal purchased the Trading Post in early 2008 and they with their four children are active in the running of the business, which helps bring their family closer.
