They have it all at Circle B Campground.
There are log cabin rentals, deluxe cabin rentals and lodge rentals, as well as RV and primitive sites, with 375 lakefront, wooded and pull-through lots.
Their mantra is to provide a clean and modern, yet natural, atmosphere for simple, quiet, family camping.
When one goes into the office and store, which is stocked with camping, fishing and beach supplies, as well as refreshments, food and hand-dipped ice cream, one can see on the bulletin board ample evidence of excellent fishing on Hogback Lake, to go along with all the other activities offered.
There are pictures of young and old hoisting some exciting catches, and Circle B has fishing licenses, a boat launch, docking facilities, and a cleaning station.
Hogback is a 146-acre lake that goes to a depth of 25 feet, and for those who bring their own watercraft, it is on the Pigeon River Chain of Lakes.
Owner David Benson says he doesn’t have much time for fishing, but he enjoys running the campgrounds.
“What I like best is providing a nice area for people to enjoy — to enjoy the out-of-doors in a very natural setting,” he said.
His grandfather moved there to farm in the 1920s, and his parents enjoyed spending time down by the lake. Then, they enjoyed camping down by the lake, and the whole operation began to grow.
Benson still farms a little, on 15 acres, but as with fishing, he has little time for “hobbies.”
Circle B offers playgrounds, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes and canoe, kayak and pontoon rentals, in addition to a private, sandy beach.
There are paved roads, the campgrounds is handicapped-accessible, and there are shower and laundry facilities, and with pets welcome, there is a fenced-in dog run.
While getting back to nature, those so inclined can stay connected with the cyberworld via free wireless Internet.
As if there is not enough to do at the campground, it is close to attractions such as Pokagon State Park, The Prime Outlet mall complex and Shipshewana, Ind.
Angola is just four miles down the road, and Coldwater, Mich. is about 30 minutes north on I-69.
There are plenty of things to do and places to go, and on their Web site, at www.circlebpark.com, there is an exhaustive list of popular attractions nearby.
Manager Joyce Davidhizar said the hot-air balloon festival that was hugely popular in 2010 will return to the Tri-State Airport across the road for another engagement this summer, the weekend after the Fourth of July.
